Limavady United

Referee: Iain Hall

SECOND placed Ards were unable to extend their six game winning streak when they went down 2-0 Limavady United at Dixon Park.

The first half of the tight encounter was drab at best, with neither team able to get on the ball and open up the opposition defence. Limavady looked the side most likely to take the lead, as they battered an uncertain Ards back-line with a number of corners and free-kicks. Ards' best chance came from left-back Ciaran Boyd who worked the Limavady goalkeeper with a 30 yard free-kick.

David Platt's Limavady got the goal they deserved in the 62nd minute when Lee Patrick headed home from a corner kick, after he escaped his marker.

The second Limavady United goal also came from a set-piece that Ards failed to deal with. This time it was Cathair Friel, in the 74th minute, who got the final touch, to make it 2-0, and give Limavady a deserved and needed three points.

Ards had chances themselves with Nathan McConnell and Sammy Devine both going close in the second half, but in truth Justin McBride's team failed to ever really get a grip of the game.
